To the Press

Hailey Brown, an eight-year coaching veteran, will be the Charles City High School head volleyball coach pending approval by the Board of Education tonight (Monday), according to a press release from the school district Friday.

“We are thrilled to tap the wealth of volleyball experience that is right here in Charles City,” said Charles City Director of Activities Todd Forsyth. “The direction Hailey will take the volleyball program is exciting. I believe that we are going to be a leader in the conference under Hailey’s direction.”

Brown is currently a school counselor with the Charles City High School. She was hired in this role in 2019. In the release, the district said that when it went searching for a new volleyball coach, it “didn’t have to go deep into the bench to find someone with a wealth of experience and coaching ability.”

“I’m very excited to be named the head volleyball coach for Charles City Community Schools,” Brown said. “My focus will be sharing my knowledge and passion for the game with our athletes.”

Brown’s background includes coaching since 2012, including teams at Starmont and Tomah, Wisconsin. She is also the lead coach for 5th – 12th grade camps, allowing her the ability to coach both young and senior players. She has also coached at Tomah Middle School and Tomah High School and continues to host camps and individual lessons.

“It’s important to me that my players know being a driven student-athlete looks like hard work on and off the court,” Brown said. “I want to empower students to work together to accomplish a similar goal through skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership.”

Brown graduated from Royall High School in Elroy, Wisconsin, and Upper Iowa University in Fayette in 2015. Her first responsibility will be leading the selection for a new assistant coach for the volleyball program.
