Carolyn Baumgardner

Carolyn Baumgardner, 66, of Glenwood, Iowa, passed away with family by her side on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at the Glen Haven Home in Glenwood.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City. A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at a later date as well.

Carolyn Kay “Bear” Baumgardner, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Blunt) Baumgardner, was born on Sept. 5, 1953 in Charles City, Iowa. She struggled with being disabled all of her life, but never let that get her down. During her later years she enjoyed serving her community through her position at Nishna Productions in Red Oak, Iowa and other various facilities.

In her free time, Carolyn could be found getting into trouble with her close friend, Sharon. Luckily Cookie was always there to keep an eye on her! She could always be counted on to lift your spirits with one of her beautiful art pieces from one of her coloring books.

Carolyn loved when family would come to visit, especially if they brought their pets. She was always strong willed and never left anyone wondering what she was thinking. The joy and excitement Carolyn brought to those around her will not soon be forgotten.

Living family members include her brother-in-law, Michael; niece, Jasmine; several cousins; as well as many who cared for her over the years that she considered family.

Carolyn was preceded in death by most of her family, including her parents; sister, Roxann; and beloved best friend, Sharon.
