Jerry grew up on a farm in a large family which included eight sisters and two brothers, and was interested in farming his whole life. His work career was mainly in the construction industry, where he worked for Fullerton Lumber Company and Fleetwood Homes, and then founded Wolterman Construction Company in Charles City following the tornado in 1968. He finally retired at age 75 after working as a salesman for L & J Welding. He was active in the community with the Knights of Columbus, and was most proud of being President of the Immaculate Conception School Board.

Jerry loved to dance, play cards and read, but his biggest passion was spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his infectious smile, quick wit, kind spirit and love of the Lord.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Schrodt, the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home staff and hospice team for their compassionate care of Jerry and support for the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to IC School in Charles City.
