Joyce Rae (Krumrey) Britain, the daughter of Lyle and Edith (Waterman) Krumrey, was born March 28, 1940 at the old Charles City Hospital. She received her education in Charles City, graduating from Charles City High School in 1958 and continuing her education at Hamilton Business College with secretarial classes.

After her graduation from Hamilton Business College, Joyce worked at Oliver in Charles City. She met Daniel in Charles City while he was working from out of town, and the couple was married on June 18, 1961. They moved to Decorah for a year where Joyce worked at Luther College and Deco Products.

The couple moved back to Charles City where their three daughters (Carmen, Tammy and Lisa) were born and raised. Joyce stayed at home with the girls until they were in school all day. She then went to work at Salsbury Labs doing roller bottles in the evening. Joyce worked her way through the research department for 17 years before moving over to biologics and the kitchen until her retirement at 55 after a total of 26 years of employment.

Joyce needed to keep busy so she began working at Hy-Vee and McDonalds. She was still handing out food samples at Hy-Vee until recently.

Joyce enjoyed camping, fishing, knitting, watching movies and traveling (going to Branson and Wyoming with Daniel). She also liked being around people and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Living family members include her husband, Daniel; three daughters: Carmen (Al) Wolf, Tammy (Tod) Wulff and Lisa (Mike) Enabnit; six grandchildren: Jason Waddell, Britany (Gabe) Niles, Dylan (Lindsey) Wulff, Matthew (Abigail) Wolf; Nicolette Wolf and Kylen Enabnit; and one great-granddaughter, Kinsley.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents.
