Richard Clair Bilharz

Richard Clair Bilharz, 80, formerly of Charles City, IA., passed away on July 10, 2020 at his home in Greenville, Texas of natural causes.

Richard was born Feb. 26, 1940 in Charles City, IA to Clair and Mildred (Altenberg) Bilharz. He received his education in the Charles City Schools. After school he joined the National Guard and worked at the Oliver Tractor plant. He married Sharon Feltz on Sept. 24, 1961 in Austin, MN. To this union seven children were born.

Bilharz was escorted for “One Last Ride” on his old friend Chisholm and by family and friends to his final resting place high in the hills of Lee Ranch.

Richard had many jobs during his married life and lived in many places throughout his life, but enjoyed working with horses and being a cowboy the most.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Bilharz of Greenville, TX, his three sons, Greg Bilharz of Oregon, Jeff (Tara) Bilharz of Montana, Troy (Judy) Bilharz of Texas and four daughters, Kim (Gene) Secrest of South Dakota, DeeAnn (Todd) Harrigan of Texas, Kristi (Melvin) Thompson of Texas, and Shauna Sandlin of Texas; five brothers Ronald, Robert, Randall, Dan of Nashua, IA and James of Minnesota; and two sisters Susan of Charles City, IA and Joan of Texas, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one more in August.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Clair and Mildred and brother Jerald.

A Cowboy Celebration of Life was held near Colestrip, MT on Aug. 1, 2020. He was escorted for “One Last Ride” on his old friend Chisholm and by family and friends to his final resting place high in the hills of Lee Ranch.
