Tammie J. Hirv

Tammie Jean “TJ” Hirv, 53, of Rockford, Iowa, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at her home.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, 805 East Main Ave., in Rockford, Iowa. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. and again one hour prior to services at the church.

Tammie was born on Jan. 21, 1971, in Charles City. She was the daughter of Gene and Lloydene (Sido) Brunner. Tammie graduated from Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock (RRMR) High School with the class of 1989. She continued her education at NIACC, then received her BA degree from Buena Vista.

She was employed in the Human Resource department at NIACC for many years. In the past year and a half, Tammie made a job change to the Volunteer Services program at NIACC, where she served as a volunteer coordinator for RSVP, Reading Buddies, and Pen Pals.

Tammie was united in marriage to Alex Hirv at the First United Methodist Church in Rockford on Dec. 28, 1991. They later became members of Zion Lutheran Church. She was active on the church council, the RRMR school board, and a member of PEO Chapter ED in Rockford. Tammie loved her family and friends, her ducks and many other pets, and gardening. She also loved going for walks and golf cart rides around Rockford, as well as cooking and baking for her family and events. She gave from her heart helping others, always ready with a kind smile and positive outlook.

Surviving her is her husband Alex Hirv, two sons Seth and Mac, and daughter Katie, as well as her parents, Gene and Lloydene Brunner, and brother Eric Brunner and his wife Janan of Rockford, along with many other family members, friends, and neighbors.
