LETTER: Schwickerath kept his promise

By Michael Brummond  |  Charles City

Four years ago, Supervisor Roy Schwickerath promised to work toward building strong partnerships with the communities of Floyd County and to deliver county services within the available budget. He performed precisely as promised. By listening closely to citizens and responding quickly with sound judgment and dialogue. The Avenue of the Saints Floyd intersection is now on a DOT path of long-overdue reconfiguration in an effort to promote the safety of all travelers in Floyd County.

When two county road crew shops (Niles and Floyd) needed major repairs for future operation, Supervisor Schwickerath agreed with his fellow board members to close the Niles shop and consolidate all services from Floyd without any employee losing his or her job.

Additionally, the former Boy Scout Camp near Marble Rock has been purchased and is being developed into the Tosanak Recreational Area under his guidance and concern.

The elaborate project for the Joint Law Enforcement Center between the Charles City Police Department and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department and its Jail Division is in the initial phase and will benefit from Supervisor Schwickerath’s common sense, patience, and foresight to keep the design, function, and budget on target.

Supervisor Roy Schwickerath is honest, extremely passionate about his service to Floyd County residents, and most reliable in keeping the promises he makes.

I strongly support Roy and urge everyone to re-elect him as a Floyd County Supervisor on Nov. 8
