Warrirors drop three at home

The RRMR wrestling team found itself battling with tough competition Tuesday night as it host a quad with Wapsie Valley, Clarksville and Hampton-Dumont.

After dropping all three matches at home Tuesday, head coach Justin Heimer will be using the time between now and Thursday’s meet at West Fork to focus on technique and recuperate.

“We don’t need to beat them down too much in practice this week, because they’re already doing that in the duals,” Heimer said. “We had some guys blow their lungs out, which is good for them to feel what it’s like to wrestle a lot.”

No one actually was injured by a deflated lung, but with Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday meets this weekend, rest and focus will be key to bouncing back and getting some wins.

In the 113-pound weight class, Will Portis (Ranked No.

6 in the state) claimed all three of his matches Tuesday night.

The Warriors come back on Dec. 10 to wrestle at West Fork. That match begins at 6 p.m. Then, the Warriors will head to Nashua-Plainfield this weekend for a tournament starting at 10:30 a.m.
