RRMR wrestling earns 2-1 record Thursday

Four RRMR wrestlers finished with a clean, 3-0 record as the Warriors went 2-1 as a team at the quad in West Fork on Thursday night.

Will Portis, Austin Duryee, Chase Krueger and Heath Farr all defeated their opponents from the three schools.

Head coach Justin Heimer said there was a lot more energy from this group of Warriors than there was during Tuesday night’s quad at home.

“On Tuesday, we came out with a lot of energy, then kind of stepped back during the second match,” Heimer said. “But tonight, we had energy all the way through.” Portis, who is ranked No. 6 in weight class 113, hasn’t had some of the strongest competition so far. But Heimer said when the schedules and tournaments start rolling through, Portis will get a chance to show fans what he’s made of. The Warriors have a night off then will take on opponents from Clarksville, Columbus Catholic, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Gladbrook- Reinbeck, Hudson, MFL Mar Mac, North Tama, Northwood- Kensett and West Fork on Saturday at Nashua-Plainfield starting at 10:30 a.m.
