Jack Molstead named to All-ARC Men’s Basketball First Team

Press Staff Report

WAVERLY — Wartburg college senior guard Jack Molstead was named to the All-American Rivers Conference Men’s Basketball First Team as announced by the ARC earlier this week.

Molstead was an All-ARC Second Team selection last season and was named All-ARC Honorable Mention after the 2019-2020 season.

This past season, Molstead led the Knights in scoring (16.4 ppg) and assists (4.5 apg). He also was third on the team in rebounds (5.0 rpg). Molstead surpassed 1,000 points for his college career this past season with the Knights.

Molstead is a graduate of Charles City High School. He is the Comets’ all-time career leader in points and assists.

Molstead finished the season with a career-high 29 points in the Knights’ ARC Tournament quarterfinal loss to Loras College (85-80). It was erroneously reported in The Press that Molstead played his final collegiate game against the Duhawks, but Molstead still has one more season of eligibility due to having his 2019-2020 season adversely affected by COVID-19 shutdowns.

Molstead is one of four Knights honored by the ARC.

Fifth-year senior and New Hampton graduate Keagan John is second-team honoree after earning an honorable mention nod a season ago. John averaged 13.4 points per game on 41.9% shooting from the field and added 4.5 rebounds per game. The fifth-year senior also led the A-R-C in steals this season with 54 total, an average of 2.1 per game.

Fifth-year senior and Osage graduate Drew Olson has made back-to-back all-conference teams after last season’s first-team selection and this season’s second-team selection. Olson averaged 11.2 points per game as well as 4.5 rebounds per game and 3.1 assists per game. Olson was also second in the A-R-C in steals per game with an average of 1.9.

Senior Codey Hicks earned his first A-R-C honor with an honorable mention selection this season. Hicks averaged 11.2 points per game and led the A-R-C for a second-straight season in field goal percentage with a mark of 72.5%.
