LINCOLN, Neb. — Charles City graduate Jackson Molstead scored 19 points while helping the Loras College DuHawks defeat Nebraska Weslayan 85-76 in overtime in the championship game of the American Rivers Conference Tournament on Saturday.

Ali Sabet scored 24, Jack Haynes added 20, and Declan Cirulik dished out 11 assists for the DuHawks (23-5), who by way of the title win earn an automatic berth for the forthcoming NCAA Division III men’s tournament.

Making its first tournament appearance since 2019, Loras will face Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday (March 1) in Platteville, Wis.

Molstead is a former Comet standout who graduated as the team’s all-time leader in scoring and assists.

Molstead continued his career at Wartburg College where he scored more than 1,000 points.

Granted an additional year of eligibility due to pandemic disruption, Molstead transferred to Loras for his final season.
