Charles City FFA students bring home awards from district events; many advance to state

A large number of Charles City FFA students earned high ratings over the weekend, including many that will take them to further state-level competition.
Bret Spurgin, agricultural education teacher and FFA advisor at Charles City High School, reported the results of the 2023 North Central FFA District Leadership Development Events and Convention that was held Saturday in Boone.
Those results are:
• Parliamentary Procedure – Brayden Ellis, Quinn Heidebrink, Anya Ruzicka, Nick Williams and Alex Wright – First Place Gold, advanced to state.
• Chapter Program – Payton Hadley, Olivia Kreger, and Emma Prichard – First Place Gold, advanced to state.
• Zach Chambers, Ag Sales – First Place Gold, advanced to state.
• Ag Issues and Perceptions – Josette Benning, Maggie Boss, Jada Litterer, Olivia Litterer, Madi Haus, Taylor Quade and Lauren Staudt – Second Place Gold, advanced to state.
• Experience the Action – Shea Bell, Evan Bollman, Vinny Benning, Bryce Walker, Bennet Hansen, Zach Sonne, Hunter Northrup, Mallory Koebrick, Jackson Ruzicka, Avery Cooley, Brynn Roethler, Joslyn Bormann and Nyssa Salinas – Second Place Gold, advanced to state.
• Ameleah McKenna – Public Speaking – Second Place Gold, advanced to state.
• Chapter Website – Lukas Vance, Braden Charlton and Xavier Scott – Gold.
• Ava Molitor – Creed Speaking – Silver.
• Maya Bruening – Job Interview – Silver.
• Natalie White – Extemporaneous Speaking – Silver.
• Jada Litterer was elected the 2023-2024 North Central District FFA Sentinel.
• Maya Bruening, Lilly Luft and Natalie White received the Academic Achievement Award.
