Want some fries with that?

The local Charles City McDonald’s placed plenty of orders on Monday night and it was all for a good cause.

Immaculate Conception School teachers were more than happy to serve up fries, cheeseburgers, cookies and more on McTeacher Night. The fundraiser for IC turned out to be a record-breaking evening for the Catholic elementary school and Soifer Family McDonalds.

Emily Garden, the new regional marketing director for McSoifer’s Inc., said the money generated through sales of food and drink hauled in the most money ever since the event was first held in 2007 in Charles City.

“IC has great involvement,” said Garden. “It’s super fun.”

For two hours Monday night, customers presented a voucher upon purchase of their meals and 20 percent of those proceeds will go back to IC for classroom needs like art projects, STEM and student activities. All cookie sales generated – 100 percent of profits made – from the 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. fundraiser will be given back to IC.

Garden will present IC School with a check for the money that was raised during the fundraiser this coming Monday at 2:50 p.m. Garden wants to keep the dollar amount of the check a surprise until the presentation next week.

“We get to give a lot back to the schools,” said Garden. “McSoifer Family McDonald’s is really happy to do this.”

Scott Soifer, a Charles City native, is owner and president of McSoifers Inc. He owns and operates 12 McDonald’s restaurants in northeast and north central Iowa, including the ones in Charles City and New Hampton.
