Students can retrieve belongings on Monday or Wednesday next week

To the Press

Students and families in the Charles City School District will be able to collect personal belongings from all four campuses (Washington, Lincoln, middle school, high school) on Monday, May 4, and Wednesday, May 6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the district announced in a release earlier this week.

Students and families will not be entering the buildings. Staff will collect items out of desks, classrooms and lockers (general and athletic). The district stated that families should use the pick-up/drop-off lanes at each building and stay in their cars. Staff members will ask for the names and locker numbers of the students, and belongings will be brought out to the car.

If students have school items at home they are no longer using, such as library books, those items may also be returned during this time by giving them to the staff member in the drive-up lane.

Chromebooks are not being collected at this time, as the district expects students to use them as part of voluntary continuous learning throughout the spring. Details for returning Chromebooks will be shared at a later date.
