Lyle attended University of Iowa, where he played percussion in the University Marching Band. He graduated in 1967 with a degree in Pharmacy. He was an avid drummer and spent his summers being a ‘skidaddy’ on the Cedar River with his friends.

In 1967 they moved to Dubuque, Iowa where he worked for Hartig Drug Company. In the Spring of 1968 they moved to Charles City, Iowa and he worked in the Weinberg Pharmacy.

In 1972, the family relocated to Iowa Falls where he formed a partnership with Dr. Neil Rowley and Dave Craig, purchasing Rite Drug. Later, he bought out the partners and went on to run Rite Drug for more than 30 years. In 2004, he sold the store to Hy-Vee and worked there until retirement in 2015. Lyle was also very active for many years in Lions Club, serving as President at one time.

Lyle developed a great passion for old west cowboy shooting in the early 90s. The sport of cowboy action shooting was a major part of his life for many years, with an impressive collection of guns. He even went as far as to prepare the ammunition for the guns he loved so much. He enjoyed dressing up in period clothing for the shooting events he attended.

Every summer since he was a little boy, his family has vacationed at Lake Margaret near Nisswa, Minnesota. He loved fishing, boating, skiing, and all the card games that were played with family.

Lyle and Karen lived on an acreage for 35 years. He enjoyed the country life with many animals, and all the freedom to shoot his guns to his heart’s content.

Left to honor his memory is Karen, his wife of 53 years; brother, Dennis (Sally); sons, John (Kathy), Joel (Jasie); eight grandchildren: Jenny, Kelly, David, Bethany, Lilly, Jack, Ava, and Abigail; a great granddaughter, Avery; a niece, Maggie (Brandon); a nephew, (Adam); uncle, Warren (Joyce) and various cousins. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws and an infant daughter, Jennifer.

Lyle’s family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and kindness.
