Ardis DeMar

Ardis DeMar, 94, of Charles City, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A private family funeral service will be held at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Ardis Geil (Nelson) DeMar, the daughter of Clinton and Grace (Cady) Nelson, was born on Oct. 30, 1926 in Tekamah, Nebraska. Ardis was united in marriage to Raymond A. DeMar on Nov. 2, 1946 in Austin, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Charles City where they raised their family. Ardis worked at Solvay in Charles City.

Ardis was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was involved with the St. Francis Circle. She volunteered as a pink lady at the Charles City hospital and enjoyed time spent with her family.

Living family members include two daughters: Vivian Immel of Charles City and Nancy (Henry) Pirhonen of Mason City; son, Raymond (Lyn) DeMar of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandsons: Chad (Jenna) DeMar, Clint (Kyla) DeMar and Eric (Leslie) DeMar; seven great-grandchildren: Sydney, Keaton, Kellen, Hudson, Nolan, Adelynn and Cole; along with nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Ardis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond A. DeMar on Oct. 24, 2015; son, Robert Francis DeMar; son-in-law, Richard Immel; grandson, Michael Immel; and sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, 106 Chapel Lane, Charles City, Iowa 50616.
