Sharon Streich

Sharon Streich, 79, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Beth Hurt from Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until the start of the service on Wednesday.

Sharon Sue (Swacker) Streich, the daughter of Walter and Lilas (McGrane) Swacker, was born on Jan. 25, 1944, in Charles City. Sharon and her family moved to Elma when she was in the 8th grade to help take care of her Grandma McGrane. Sharon was united in marriage to Louis Streich on March 26, 1960, in Floyd County. To this union five children were born: Lonnie, Rick, Carrie, Christie, and Rory.

Sharon worked for Band Box Cleaners and cleaned homes for many wonderful people who became great friends. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed watching western movies, playing bingo every Sunday and Tuesday, and taking bus trips to the casinos. Sharon loved spending time with her family, especially playing games and cards with her grandchildren.

Living family members include her husband, Louis; daughter, Christie (Dan) DeBower of Charles City; son, Rory Streich of Charles City; daughter-in-law, Julie Anderson of La Porte City; grandchildren: James Streich, Kevin (Tiffanee) Streich, Quinn (Paige) DeBower, Cassie DeBower (Josiah Scobee), Triston Moon, Kayla Streich, Caleb Streich, Ryan (Lyndsey) Anderson, and Andrew MacMahon; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Swacker; sister-in-law, Betts Swacker; sister, Shirley Haugen; children: Lonnie, Rick, and Carrie; and special friends: Helga & Sonny King, and Linda Kilby.
