Huskies working on reacting to live situations

Aubry Bienemann notches doubledouble in loss

Senior Aubry Bienemann got aggressive on the boards and in the paint, earning a double-double during Tuesday night’s loss to Newman Catholic.

Bienemann had 13 points and 10 rebounds on the night. She also shot 8-for-12 from the free-throw line, helping her to the achievement.

She also was 1-for-1 from the 3-point line.

Head coach Erik Smith said he was happy with parts of Tuesday night’s game, saying the Huskies made some key adjustments to help keep the game close.

“We had a really good second quarter,” Smith said. “We hit a couple shots and were only down 15 (points). We did really well at making some adjustments, but (Newman Catholic) just responded better to them.”

Smith said the key moving forward in practice is going to be giving the players the skills to make live, in-game adjustments on their own, without calling a timeout.

“It’s impossible to cover every situation that’s going to happen in a game,” Smith said. “We have to give the girls the skills to see something and react by themselves.”

Senior Briley Fisher recorded 10 points Tuesday night. She also had seven rebounds and two assists.

Sophomore Sydney Hansen contributed five points to the Huskies’ offense. She also had seven rebounds, an assists, two steals and a block.

The Huskies return home to play conference foe Central Springs on Friday night. That game starts at 6:15 p.m.

Nashua-Plainfield will also travel to Clarksville to play on Dec. 12. That match tips off at 3 p.m.
