Super Bowl weekend pool tournament goes into overtime

CHARLES CITY — When does Super Bowl Sunday become Super Bowl Monday?
When Hot Shots Billiards’ annual 3-day Super Bowl Pool Tournament has 27 teams in its Doubles 8-Ball bracket.
“It’s one of our biggest turnouts,” Hot Shots owner Joe Hull said of the doubles competition, the final leg of the tournament.
“We plan to be here for a while.”
Sure enough, it went well into overtime.
Nearly six hours after the Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl title, Minnesota residents Mike Perron Jr. and Kevin McGrath won their first SB tourney doubles title at Hot Shots.
“We’ve played out here before,” Perron said shortly before making his long trip home. “This is the first time we played as a team … we usually play against each other.”
This is first Hot Shots Super Bowl weekend tournament held at its new site at 700 Riverside Dr.
Hull, who won the Doubles 8-Ball two years ago with Ryan Miller before the pair placed runner-up last year, placed first in Singles 9-Ball.
