WATERLOO — Several members of Charles City’s girls wrestling team sported undefeated records that included wins in multiple weight classes during this past weekend’s “Battle of Waterloo” held at Young Arena.

Senior Destiny Kolheim’s 5-0 record consisted of four first-period fall victories in the 155-pound bracket, and a technical-fall win in the 170-pound bracket.

Freshman Edie Collins was 5-0 with four fall victories at 125, and another fall victory at 130.

Freshman 110-pounder Alexuz Ohlendorf was 4-0 with four fall victories; junior 190-pounder Leah Stewart, a returning state-qualifier, was 4-0 with four fall victories; senior 235-pounder Ava Thompson, another returning state-qualifier, was 2-0 with a pair of fall victories; and 115-pound freshman Emma Schmitt was 5-0 that included a fall victory and a major-decision win for the Comets.

Charles City’s girls went 4-1 in dual-meet competition during the Battle of Waterloo, losing to Mason City (42-39) before rolling off wins against North Scott (51-36), BCLUW (42-36), Crestwood (38-36) and Dallas Center Grimes (49-30) while taking fifth in their bracket and first in their pool.

In the boys “Battle”, Comet senior Jordan Young had an outstanding weekend while compiling a 6-0 record while wrestling at 126 — four of his victories were by fall, another was by major-decision.

Comet freshman Carter Cajthaml, currently ranked No. 6 among Class 2A 126-pounders according to IAwrestle, was 4-2 while wrestling at 132 pounds at Waterloo with a pair of fall victories and a pair of technical-fall victories.

Senior 165-pounder Colton Anderegg was 4-2 with four fall victories for the Comets, who dropped duals to Bettendorf (63-16), West Des Moines Valley (65-14), Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (51-26) and Cedar Falls (57-22), before finishing the Saturday morning session of the tournament with wins over Columbus Catholic (42-30) and Waterloo West (42-27).
